On day two of the Tackle & Guns Trade Show I had the absolute pleasure of spending 20 minutes or so with Peter Koppman of Marukyu (thanks to Ben @ Art Of Fishing for the recommendation). Peter works for Marukyu, but more specifically on the Ecogear and Nories sub-brands – I guess you could say, the lure side of things. Peter is an Aussie and resides in Japan – the homeplace of Marukyu. He’s an angling nut from an angling family (his parents ran fishing tournaments when he was a kid) and he speaks Japanese. In short, he’s a pretty interesting guy and no doubt a Continue reading “Marukyu, Ecogear, Nories and the Future for the UK”
We didn’t get a clear answer when we spoke to the Pure Fishing representative at the Tackle & Guns Trade Show yesterday, but it would appear that the amazing new Berkley Nanofil will be in the shops before 2011 is out – or ever so slightly more accurate, in ‘one or two months’.
We can’t wait to try out the thinnest versions of this line. We got to man-handle the line yesterday and have to say Continue reading “Berkley Nanofil UK Release Date”
The Tackle and Guns Trade Show is upon us once again. Every October the T&G show attracts a mass of UK retailer, tackle manufacturers and press. Meetings are had, orders are taken and most exciting for us, the next season’s tackle is on display to gorp and drool over.

Akios just announced on their Facebook page that 4 new Shuttle reels are planned for launch in the coming weeks. Exciting news. The original Akios Shuttle reel was well liked by us, sea anglers and tournament casters alike.
The new additions for 2011/2012 see a narrower CT version, a wide CT version and the first Shuttle reels featuring level winds.
The Akios Shuttle 555 SCM pictured below appears to be Continue reading “New Akios Shuttle 555, 666 Wide & LSi reels coming soon”
Abel fishing reels and their growing range of accessories are among the most lustful items of fishing tackle available. Whether you’re a fly fisher or not, there’s no denying the quality and beauty that oozes out of every item they make.
Take 2012, for example. Abel have released two new reels, one for Spey, one Switch, both in a new (for them), old-school, classical design. There’s a new reel finish by Montana artist Derek DeYoung, plus two of the most adorable fishing accessories I think I have ever seen – the Abelight flashlight/torch and the Abel Nippers, both available in a multitude of jaw-dropping finishes.
