If French, Spanish or Czech Nymphing mean anything to you, then this new Climax H2O Super Fine Tip fly line might be right up your beat.
The Super Fine Tip (SFT) line took Best New Fly Line at the recent European Tackle Trade Exhibition, and with good reason. The popularity of ‘nymphing’ has outgrown the respective tackle. Climax looked at what the technique tries to achieve and have made a purpose built fly line for the job.
Traditionally, fly anglers have relied on extended, light line leaders to facilitate a realistic dead drift of a nymph. However most anglers use a standard line. It’s this part of the set up Climax outlined as an area for refinement.
With the Climax Super Fine Tip, the lightweight body features Continue reading “Climax H2O Super Fine Tip – Best Fly Line EFTTEX 2011”

Berkley NanoFil did NOT win either Best New Monofilament or Best New Braid at EFTTEX 2011. Berkley did win ‘Innovation of the Year’ with NanoFil though. How so?

It’s been a while since we saw a bold innovation like this in wader design. The Rapala Reflection Waders from Rapala’s Eco Wear range took top honours in the Apparel category at this years EFTTEX, in Amsterdam.
The innovation is two-pronged.
There’s a big tick in the box for the Eco warriors amongst us. Rapala worked with DuPont’s Cerenol technology – a first in waders – to create a highly waterproof and breathable wader using sustainable material derived from agriculture. The result is a product manufactured with 30% less fossil fuel and 35% less greenhouse gas emissions.
If saving the planet doesn’t turn you on, there’s still a big draw. The material used has reflective qualities that are said to mimic underwater light reflections, blurring angler outline and creating the perfect camouflage in certain light conditions.
