Online fishing TV channel, OnlineFishing.tv now has well over 200 programmes available to view, and continues to add at least 12 new fishing shows per month.

No-one is making as many, completely new angling shows – they have no less than 17 new series on the go for coarse, carp, sea and game anglers among them ‘Match TV’, ‘Hints and Tips’, ‘Sea Watch UK’, ‘A Game Fisher’s Diary’, ‘Improve Your Coarse Fishing’, ‘Carp Coach’ and ‘Chilly On Carp’. And if you prefer to view on DVD rather than online, some of these series are available from the website’s shop.

Certainly a gift I've welcomed on many an occasion myself - here we take a look at the fishing magazine subscriptions available online in time for Christmas.

Generally there are three different types of angling publication. There are weekly publications like the Angling Times that concentrate on all areas of angling, reporting on the latest news and reviews - often as they happen; then there are many magazines that concentrate on a particular type of fishing, for example sea fishing or coarse fishing; and then finally there a few monthly mags that specialise in niche areas of a certain angling type, for example Boat Fishing Monthly is a specialist magazine in the Sea category.

Today, Tackle Trade World has announced that Okuma is planning to expand its European business with a range of rods. Okuma is a highly recognised reel manufacturer in Europe however, they are not renowned for rod manufacture despite selling volume elsewhere in the world. Importing rods in any numbers to Europe for the first time is sure to raise the brand's profile here in the UK.

TTW believes that we can expect to see a high profile branding campaign from Okuma in the new year and that this move will coincide with that.

Okuma has its manufacturing plant based in China with a considerable resource of 2,000 employees. In addition, they have a research and development plant in Taiwan, so they definitely have the 'grunt' to make this happen. I would initially expect to see rods that translate well across international boundaries (such as spinning rods for example) before we see any region specific rod genres, like carp rods.

We look forward to see what the new year brings.

The Kingpin stand was definitely one of the most attractive at the show. The quality of the merchandise (and the anodising) were second to none.

Centre stage was the limited edition Sterling available in Blood Red/Pearl Black (pictured) or Pearl Black/Blood Red, both of which are equally seductive in appearance. These 4 1/2 inch reels were created to commemorate the company's 25th anniversary and boy have they made something to be proud of.
