Posted by Editor On September - 1 - 2011

Well, it's that time of year again (at last). The big tackle trade shows of EFTTEX and ICAST are behind us and fishing tackle manufacturers' attention turns to consumer PR, building the buzz for next seasons tackle releases.

As ever, there's an awful lot of new releases this year. The big manufacturers will use their marketing might to make their products stand out against the rest. It's normally quite a show.

Australia seems to be ahead in this process every year. Check out this promotional video from Shimano Australia for 2012: Read the rest of this entry »

Want a Cheap Certate – Grab a Daiwa Infinity Q

Posted by Editor On August - 18 - 2011

Daiwa Infinity QI've done this a couple of times and a mate, once more. So now's the time to share the secret in getting hold of the superb Daiwa Certate dirt cheap.

Search eBay for a Daiwa Certate - especially in the UK - and if you didn't already know they were high price items, you might get a shock. In time the Daiwa Certate has earned a following. In an auction market such as eBay that generally means fair pricing and Read the rest of this entry »

"Not a Mono. Not a Fluoro. Not a Braid." That's how the advertising video for Berkley NanoFil ends. Okay, so apart from ruling Berkley out of every line award at this year's tackle shows, what does NanoFil mean to us, the Read the rest of this entry »

Rapala Reflection WadersIt's been a while since we saw a bold innovation like this in wader design. The Rapala Reflection Waders from Rapala's Eco Wear range took top honours in the Apparel category at this years EFTTEX, in Amsterdam.

The innovation is two-pronged.

There's a big tick in the box for the Eco warriors amongst us. Rapala worked with DuPont's Cerenol technology - a first in waders - to create a highly waterproof and breathable wader using sustainable material derived from agriculture. The result is a product manufactured with 30% less fossil fuel and 35% less greenhouse gas emissions.

If saving the planet doesn't turn you on, there's still a big draw. The material used has reflective qualities that are said to mimic underwater light reflections, blurring angler outline and creating the perfect camouflage in certain light conditions.
