SONIK Sports – SONIK Reward Club Scheme

Posted by Editor On March - 27 - 2010

SONIK Sports launched back in May 2008 and from the off it was clear that the brand was a little bit special - not surprising considering the pedigree of the gentlemen behind it. Former Hardy & Greys commercial director Ian McCormack and Tony Anderson, who also worked at the Alnwick company as a product manager were joined by seasoned marketeer, John Openshaw to form the new fishing tackle manufacturer. It is John's role within SONIK Sports that perhaps interests me the most.

John Openshaw has Coca-Cola listed as a previous employer and was described as having a background in online marketing in one of the first press releases for SONIK. I remember thinking that this was Read the rest of this entry »

New Shimano Stella for 2010

Posted by Editor On March - 21 - 2010

It's always a good year when Shimano bring out a new Stella - the flagship fishing reel in their range. Luckily for us, 2010 is one of those years. Introducing the new Shimano Stella featuring X-SHIP (Extra Smooth & High Power).

As you can see, the reel has been aesthetically modified once more and is as beautiful as ever. I'm sure this will be enough for some anglers to part with a large chunk of change, however Shimano have added so much more in this new model. At the heart is X-SHIP. The 'Extra Smooth' appears to come from improved bearing placement on the main shaft. The reel also features Shimano's Full Floating Shaft. The 'High Power' is driven by a new design with a larger Read the rest of this entry »

Interest Free Fishing Tackle on Finance

Posted by Editor On March - 21 - 2010

With the new season fast approaching it comes as no surprise that we're seeing a growing trend of anglers looking for 'fishing tackle finance' in our search logs for the site (view financing solution). Credit fills me with dread - I'd have trouble recommending finance to anyone - but if it gets you fishing and you don't overspend and keep within your reasonable limits then I guess I can see it as a means to an end. I thought I'd have a look around the web to see what the options were like.

It appears that there are Interest Free Credit options available, even in today's financial climate. One of's partners - Fishtec - offer no deposit, interest free payments over 6 months. The trade off is that this is only available if you spend over Read the rest of this entry »

Tackle Fanatics – New Site for Used Fishing Tackle

Posted by Editor On February - 27 - 2010

"Tackle Fanatics is an exciting new website launching in April 2010 which will offer the UK's biggest range of quality used tackle!"

That's a bold statement when you consider the success of eBay but it's exactly what the company behind have set their sights on. We came across Tackle Fanatics at The Big One tackle show in Farnborough and I must say, from a presentation perspective, Craig and Matthew (the gentlemen behind the new venture) they have it spot on, with a fresh and vibrant looking brand.
